Upper Roya Valley


Tende: a high mountain village

Built in amphitheater above the Roya, Tende is located at an altitude of 823 meters but its highest points reach 3,000 meters.

This medieval city, with its rich cultural, natural and religious heritage is built on a hillside.

Tende is the starting point of many hiking trails; its territory includes part of the Parc National du Mercantour (Mercantour National Park) with the Vallée des Merveilles, Fontanalba Valley, and the Valmasque Valley.
