Castellar: a perched medieval village over Menton city tops

This small village is nestled in the hills above Menton and offers unique panoramas of the coast and surrounding mountains.

Castellar is a picturesque 15th century village, rich with small house-towers and narrow streets decorated with numerous water fountains. The village is known as a former stronghold of the Lascar’s family of Ventimiglia.

This medieval village attracts many hikers because it is surrounded by several hiking trails that offer exceptional panoramas of this part of the coast.
